Becoming a Friend of HaSM
Simply send us your name, organization and position (if any), the name of your town and country of residence, and your email address. You can also mail the info to the mailing address below.
No fees or anything else. We simply need to know you support our work. We need your moral support, we need to know you are with us.
HaSM does not publish the names or any other particulars of its friends anywhere. Though we employ the best internet security available, still the particulars of friends are not stored on internet accessible computers at all. Only the email address for the purpose of corresponding with the friend.
Friendship mutual benefits
Besides morally supporting our vital work, friends of HaSM will, if they wish, receive periodic updates and commentaries on the latest controversies that affect Muslims and Islam worldwide. Friends can also take advantage of our research capabilities to answer their questions to the best of our abilities and in the most scholarly manner possible.
Members and non-members alike are also invited to send us opinion pieces for potential posting on the web site
From time to time HaSM may poll its friends or invite them to send their personal input on issues it is dealing with, thus enhancing its work through a wider range of views and suggestions. Such requests for input and opinion on vital issues will only go out to registered HaSM friends, and may be used to publicise the overall opinions held by the wider constituency of secular and humanist Muslims on such issues.
Participation
We hope members and non-members alike will take an active role in the issues that affect Muslims and Arabs. We ask them to make HaSM aware of incidents, events, or media items that gratuitously attack Muslims or unfairly depict Islam and Muslims so we can confront and challenge them wherever they occur. The same with faith-based negative incidents experienced by non-Muslims in Muslim nations, and by Muslims choosing to practice Islam differently, or not at all, in Muslim nations.
Such incidents, our analyses of them, as well as our reaction to them, if any, will occasionally be posted on this site, (and where appropriate, printed in HaSM's as yet tentative print edition journal).
Similarly, we appreciate all good news of interfaith, inter-cultural and interracial cooperation.
Read other details on the advocacy page.
Volunteers needed
We need help searching for or locating and downloading news items, etc. and their URLs, and classifying them for posting on the web site.
If you feel you can do that, even if occasionally, we woud be very grateful for the help.
You may also specialise in a certain field (or fields) say: "Muslims in Britain", or "Muslims in Europe", or "Racism in Australia" or "Christians in Muslim Lands" etc.
If you work with us on a regular basis, your efforts and contributions will be officially acknowledged where appropriate, after getting your permission, of course.
Names Witheld.
Due to the nature of the organization in relation to some Islamic leaders' directives regarding debating or critiquing Islam, or with regards to apostasy, etc., the names of members, supporters, executives, article contributors, and correspondents will be withheld by default, unless otherwise directed by the individual.
It is up to each individual to inform us whether they don't mind having their names published. An alternative is using pen names of their choice for their submissions.
