Between America and Canada, over 18,000 people were killed in a single year (2006) as a result of drinking a lethal, backward, uncivilized chemical sold in every neighbourhood in the western world, and then driving.
The number of injured due to that chemical is over half a million, including the countless numbers of permanently disabled.
But those 18,000 are only the tip of the iceberg, since they are all the result of one aspect of drunkenness - drinking and driving, and don't include the shootings, stabbings, and other murders, killings and injuries committed by drunk people in the home or out of the home.
That's up to seven to eight 9/11s every single year due to the worst terrorist weapon in existence - as evidenced by the consequences of its use - blessed and legalised by western governments and consumed by the leaders.
In a survey of the Canadian public, fear of drunk drivers came at the top of their concerns.

Terrorism, militarism, and violence are the product of specific problems and grievances not religious followings. If anything, Muslims are incomparably lagging far behind Christians where violence is concerned.
Indeed, 9/11 provided indisputable and conclusive evidence for that. Read a number of articles dealing with the matter and establishing that view, and unequivocally and without reservation - or buts or ifs - condemning terrorism and the likes of Osama bin Laden.
REMINDER: HasM has no interest whatsoever, indeed it saddens it, and it's a burden upon it, to point out comparisons between religions or different groups - the west, Christianity, etc. - but it's hand is forced by those who relentlessly direct hate, vilification, and denigration at Muslims.
Unfortunately, in responding to hate attacks one is forced to make comparisons. However, wherever we can, we do our best to keep as closely as possible to refuting the attacks without pointing out or emphasizing the ills of the attackers' group. We hold the position that the haters are exceptions in the groups they belong to, not the norm. We do not, in the least manner, care to upset the good members of the groups that such haters belong to (at least nominally), whether they be "the West", white, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, atheist, or whatever.
We ache as we find ourselves cornered into responding in a manner we would never have, had our hand not been forced.

The wrongs are dependent on what is going on in the immediate lives of the "perpetrators" whether it is empire building, nation building, fighting occupation, seeking freedom and human rights, or it is a vicious civil war between identical groups differing only in ideology (e.g. US civil war).
In all cases faith is used and abused as a morale-booster, an excuse, an indication of one's God's support of one's cause, and so on.
On the individual level, predispositon to commit violence exists in all of humanity at the same degree on a normal curve of distribution of traits, and thus the common crime that exists in every corner of the globe, including the most prosperous and stable nations on it.
Once more, prevalent conditions and other determinant factors control and dictate the magnitude, quantity, and types of violence and crime committed. The variations on the theme are infinite both on the individual and the group levels.
